yes i went taiwan AGAIN this time with yeewen sinkuan and sinyee. all girls = shopping nonstop! i kinda prefer this trip, except for the fact that i actually had to carry my own luggage around, instead of like yeah having guys to help. lol. next time should go with metro guys who can shop and help with luggage :D

a picture paints a thousand words so here goes:
day 1: reached taoyuan international airport at around 5.30? WE SAW ANDY LAU hahaha (i actually thought he was some caucasian 'cos he was so fair!)

our first picture taken in taiwan!

didn't have anywhere to stay for the first night so we just took the coach and got down at taipei che zhan. decided to stay at cosmos hotel but WHAT THE SHIT there was no way to get across the street except for an OVERHEAD BRIDGE like 100m away! CRAP. talk about exercise!!

settled into room 1121 and then went taipei main station's underground mall for a very expensive (and bad!) western dinner. oh well. at least the waffles were nice! shopped around for cheap shoes and books before heading back.

day 2: cam-whored (sk and i), watched some murder mystery on tv (sk yw sy) and checked out! proceeded to ximending to check into our 2nd hotel. speaking of murder mysteries, it's damn freaky when you travel with 3 girls who get so hooked on such shows that they exclaimed at the same time that the true murderer is the mother of some guy who died.

we also did some xi-nu-ai-le pose which i thought was too ugly to be posted up HAHA

took neoprints and then shopped at ximending after that, before heading to taipei 101.

let me advertise my fav actor first! DAMN BIG POSTER WOOHOO JOHNNY DEPP!!
stupid lamp post in the way

behold. the world's tallest building (for now). taipei 101.

in the queue for the lift going up to 89th floor

view of taipei city

then sk and i discovered that we could buy postcards and send back to ourselves, and we spent like tons of time (1.5 hours?) writing and stamping

the box which we dropped our postcards into

when we were finally done, we went up up up to the 91st storey, the OUTDOOR observatory

2 storeys make all the difference in size of cars/buildings

sk trying to get a jump shot. this was probably the 15th attempt

then we decided to get SUPPER at ximending. donuts + corn + hotdog + some jap food thingy

donuts from mr donut. famous but only a few flavours are worth trying.

had some supper party thingy before going to sleep.

day 3: headed to leofoo village in the morning. waited damn long for the bus there

bus tickets

the most exciting ride there, since the roller coaster was down for maintenance =/

beer version of the turning teacup thingy

suggestive pose HAHA sorry edison

MY FAVOURITE RIDE

view of part of the theme park, taken from some lame ali baba ride

taken when we were leaving the place

reached taipei at 7+, close to 8? then left for wu fen pu + rao he night market. SHOPPING WOOO

some sign outside the night market

back at the hotel with our prized possessions.

updating in reverse order cos blogger somehow always puts the last uploaded picture on top.

day 4:
went wufenpu in the afternoon, returned to hotel and then we went SHIHLIN! basically the highlight of the trip.

my HAO DA DA JI PAI! (must say with accent)
shihlin ZONG3 DIAN4 okay (and it's like just a stall with a super long queue)

we also ate ah zong mian xian which was a good team building experience! you have to try it yourself. it's quite hard to finish the noodles alone. lol. then we split up to shop! sk and i managed to find this dart throwing game. good for relieving stress. so we met up again at the train station where this pic was taken:

YUP I WAS TRYING TO KISS DEAR JOHNNY. at the mrt station! tons of ppl around!

back to taipei main station to change trains

we decided we were all too high to just go back to sleep. so we went k at partyworld at around 12.35. partyworld's like an entire building (overstaffed though). very different experience! $17+ to sing for 4 hours, plus meals (rice + kangkong + spare ribs). THE MEAL WAS REALLY GOOD.

of course we'd cam whore first

THE ROOM HAS ITS OWN TOILET. like damn cool can! singapore should have also!

sy yw and sk decided to stand on the chair to sing some high song while i was away in the toilet.
then the guy who delivered the food entered AND THEY SAT DOWN IMMEDIATELY.
HAHA

swinging their hands along to jay's ting mama de hua. note sk's expressions.

before we went to k we all thought OH NO WE MAY GET ROBBED, STALKED, etc when we go back to hotel at 4+. but it was already bright, like the sky you'll see at 7am.

(it was actually much brighter but i took this pic with flash on)

we were like CHEH what the hell it's probably more dangerous to go out at 12+ than go back at 4+ la.

me, still being high, decided to sing CONG TAIPEI DAO BEIJING while taking off my jacket (intended to throw it on the ground), in the middle of ximending.
BUT while sk was filming the video and after i took off my jacket, A POLICE CAR APPEARED!
LOL

went back hotel, slept immediately. didn't even remember sk coming out from the shower.

day 5:
slept till 10 (earliest as usual), showered, woke sk & yw up, went organic shop, ate macs for lunch, then went carrefour to buy cup noodles (yw), cream puffs (sk), lays (me) and gums/sweets (sy). decided to check-in the food since it obviously won't fit our luggage!

one for each of us

then yw and sy went shihlin, sk and i walked around ximen. took neoprints, and duh, more shopping. i somehow managed to get high and kept WOOHOO-ing, all the way back to hotel.

drunk on yakult

I WAS SO SAD AFTER THAT! cos when we compared the amount of stuff we each bought, i realised i bought quite little things! decided to forfeit my long-awaited hot spring visit to do more shopping.

day 6:
woke yw and sy up to go hot springs. sk and myself went organic shop (again) and ximen and organic shop (AGAIN AGAIN)

ate some lover's shaved ice thingy. perfect in that weather.

sk scribbled on the walls. you can vaguely make out the "cong taipei dao beijing" which i asked her to add in LOL

splurging on high class cake and tea in a high class cafe.
trying to be artistic.

artistic attempt #1

artistic attempt #2
(not bad, someone actually thought it was some wine bar when i set it as my DP)

then it was back to hotel to wait for the coach to airport. sk and i were complaining of not having cam-whored enough, so we did the 1-10 thingy.

never incur a woman's wrath. JUST LOOK AT SK'S FACE!
(somehow it reminds me of johnny depp. HAHA)

reached airport, checked in our almost overweight baggage, went for dinner at bk where most of us spent all our money, and then we were on our way back to sg!

the pineapple tarts darn cute will blow up in the airplane! air pressure

my stuff! tons of lays and cream puff biscuits and other food
one pack of lays EXPLODED cos of the air pressure! damn.

yw's load of maggie mee (she insisted on buying more at the airport!)

sk's haul of organic stuff, books, shoes, clothes and food

sy's cream puffs and lays in box; all other bought stuff in the glam lancome bag

so that was taiwan 2007. REWARDING EXPERIENCE. more updates next time.

2 chalets coming up in the june holidays! looking forward to overnight mahjong

I NEED A JOB. xueli says go work in kbox. sounds fun but pay sure v low. hard to find one that matches deloitte's. but still need to find cos my bank account has dwindled to that before i started work. hahaha AND I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHERE MY TUITION PAY'S GOING?

can anyone solve this maths question and explain it clearly to me? it's a sec 1 math problem. i can't seem to visualise! will be eternally grateful.
there are 3 sec 1 classes in ABC school. all classes have the same number of pupils. the fraction of girls in 1A is equal to the fraction of boys in 1C. 1/5 of the total number of sec 1 boys are in 1B. what fraction of the total number of pupils are girls? the answer's 7/12.

ya i can totally imagine ppl saying "nj de jiu shi nj de".
whatever lah!

it's been a whole two days since friday, and my muscles are screaming after that 1 hour plus of badminton. talk about lack of exercise! but anyway i am tired of wasting earth's resources by staying home. anyone wanna try kayaking at chinese garden sometime this week??? determined to get rid of my byebye fats. haha

been keeping my days busy. going bowling tomorrow and breakfast with ry on tues. i'll be the first friend to see him without hair! how appealing and exciting! i'll post pictures up. HAHA

random thought. during tuition on sat, i realised how sheltered i've been in my school days. as in, be it in saps, css or njc, i was usually surrounded by people of similar standards. never knew that there would be people struggling with topics like squares and cubes and roots, or multiplication and division, or people who have trouble finding LCM and HCF. i never knew people who had trouble recalling the formula for solving quadratic equations, people who can take 20 minutes to find the LCM of 12, 18, and 30, people who need 5 minutes to think (and fail to remember) how to spell P-O-P-U-L-A-R, people who could spell occasion as O-K-T-I-O-N (which is really quite interesting and funny, if you didn't happen to be his tutor), people who could leave entire cloze passages blank.

and it was then that i guiltily acknowledged that, after 18 years and counting, my view of the world was so one-sided and so shallow. i mean, of course i didn't expect everyone to be of the same standards la, but not to be different to this extent! i think i shall keep reminding myself that this is all part of view-expansion and life experience; hopefully i'll become a better person after tutoring all these kids.

another random memory. i once raised the objection "studying and getting good grades is not everything", but the moment i said that i knew i was being really contradictory and ironic, because it had been everything i was working for for the past 18 years. anyway, i was shot down with his reply "but it is in singapore".

lastly. i do not need constant reminders that i was from nj. it's extremely annoying. yes it's true and i'm not ashamed to admit it. but coming from where i did does not mean that we're smarter or better. it does not guarantee good results, nor does it grant us instant success. it does not mean that we didn't have to work hard to achieve the standards that the college set for us. so stop thinking that the 2 years there was like a bed of roses, because being around the elite does not mean that you are one.

it's not until today that i realised how different we really are. goodbye.
