it's been a whole two days since friday, and my muscles are screaming after that 1 hour plus of badminton. talk about lack of exercise! but anyway i am tired of wasting earth's resources by staying home. anyone wanna try kayaking at chinese garden sometime this week??? determined to get rid of my byebye fats. haha
been keeping my days busy. going bowling tomorrow and breakfast with ry on tues. i'll be the first friend to see him without hair! how appealing and exciting! i'll post pictures up. HAHA
random thought. during tuition on sat, i realised how sheltered i've been in my school days. as in, be it in saps, css or njc, i was usually surrounded by people of similar standards. never knew that there would be people struggling with topics like squares and cubes and roots, or multiplication and division, or people who have trouble finding LCM and HCF. i never knew people who had trouble recalling the formula for solving quadratic equations, people who can take 20 minutes to find the LCM of 12, 18, and 30, people who need 5 minutes to think (and fail to remember) how to spell P-O-P-U-L-A-R, people who could spell occasion as O-K-T-I-O-N (which is really quite interesting and funny, if you didn't happen to be his tutor), people who could leave entire cloze passages blank.
and it was then that i guiltily acknowledged that, after 18 years and counting, my view of the world was so one-sided and so shallow. i mean, of course i didn't expect everyone to be of the same standards la, but not to be different to this extent! i think i shall keep reminding myself that this is all part of view-expansion and life experience; hopefully i'll become a better person after tutoring all these kids.
another random memory. i once raised the objection "studying and getting good grades is not everything", but the moment i said that i knew i was being really contradictory and ironic, because it had been everything i was working for for the past 18 years. anyway, i was shot down with his reply "but it is in singapore".
lastly. i do not need constant reminders that i was from nj. it's extremely annoying. yes it's true and i'm not ashamed to admit it. but coming from where i did does not mean that we're smarter or better. it does not guarantee good results, nor does it grant us instant success. it does not mean that we didn't have to work hard to achieve the standards that the college set for us. so stop thinking that the 2 years there was like a bed of roses, because being around the elite does not mean that you are one.
it's not until today that i realised how different we really are. goodbye.

did you know that if you went to www.blogger.com and searched for "xiu ming", this blog will turn up? i swear nothing around in this world gets any privacy anymore. (ya i know i put all my details on the blog anyway)
work's been great. now that i've actually made friends in the office, i really look forward to lunchtimes and after work hours. to be honest, when i'm home after work, i start to will time to go faster so i can go back to work again. but it seriously sucks that just when work starts to get fun, the fun's gonna disappear again cos we're all leaving soon. and i don't see a point in like asking for contact details because i can't imagine us contacting each other ever again. so yeah i guess i'm really dreading the day when all this ends. (this coming friday and then two weeks after)
we watched pathfinder together two days back, me bailu waiyip edison and michelle. it's a forgettable movie. just tons of killing going on. bailu was totally freaked out (like sinyee when she watches horror movies. just start screaming and grabbing ppl's arm.) but anyway, LEWIS, IT'S YOUR KIND OF GORE. i think you'll like the show. speaking of which, i've got to introduce you to waiyip. he's like practically your twin in terms of mannerism and like, speech. "wahlao, you don't have to go one big round just to praise yourself can" and the "WHAT." sounds just like you lews. haha.
i applied for ntu accountancy after much deliberation. it just seems more practical to me. bread over interest, plus if i were to do business the risk of not getting the course that i'm interested in is too high. and anyway according to 23/3/07's ST front page report, top accountants in the private sector earn an average of 3.72M a year. (if you want to see it's my current DP) eh come on. if i ever earned 3.2M a year, i'll quit after working for 3 years la. hahaha. enjoy early retirement already. YES. i aim to retire by 45 la. and laugh at edison who's probably still slogging hard to become a principal. hahaha. if you're still contactable that is. (not like you'll ever see this anyway)
heading over to taiwan (yes, again) in end may with sy sk and yw (who i practically begged to come as to balance the bimbos haha). hope it'll end up as a really good shopping trip instead of like .. other stuff that i can totally imagine happening. mm.
happy birthday Man! may your birthday wish of getting your hair back come true. (highly unlikely.) maybe you want to try some fertiliser. haha

How to tell if you've been doing office work for too long:
1. you walk into the filing place and can go straight to where the files are, even if they are in unusual places (not in alphabetical order).
2. you turn on your laptop at home and immediately click "my computer" to access the G drive (like in the office; to retrieve office documents).
3. you see the name "doreen" appear on msn and immediately think of your colleague.
4. you don't feel paiseh to argue with your manager about how the alignment in the letter should be.
4. you take as long as the perm staff do to eat lunch (i.e. always come back at 1.30 no matter what time you leave the office), and don't feel bad about it.
5. you don't bother to go to work early anymore. (and try to leave early hahaha)

okay i'm updating by popular demand! (like, 2 ppl.) HAHA.
went for the fish&co house outing that day (okay quite long ago). the sms that was sent around said aqua TRADITIONAL fish&co outing and i'm like wondering okay since when has it been a tradition but ANYWAY
had a lot of fun laughing at edwin and his lame jokes! and suaning suihang about school and homework and all that.
but then of course people (was it shawn? i forgot.) started asking what job you're doing right now, blah blah.
I TELL YOU. the conversation was something like this.
shawn: so xiu ming, are you working right now?
me (quite loudly) : uhh..........yeah. i'm a housewife!
everyone else: HAHAHAHAHAHA
eh what! very funny meh! i think i can be a damn good housewife okay!
i also think that mediacorp should hire me to go on some cooking show! then i can get to say "if xiuming can cook so can you!" which is probably more true than YAN cos everyone knows i can't even cook instant noodles.
hmm. the highlight of the day was probably chriselle going up to the band thing at the glasshouse and singing. everyone upstairs was like WHOA. her voice so low pitched.
then, edwin being edwin, stretched himself out on the sofa upstairs and peered down to look. AND there were girls standing right beside him. so it was something like. his eye level was somewhere near yeahyouknowwhere.
HAHAHAHA
then we made him do something (i forgot what 'cos it was too long ago) that required him to face the girls. LOL. how AWKWARD.
oh and of course the part where suihang tries to get home. and laughing at our "clan leader". (not sam okay.) edwin laughed so-damn-loudly and he did some action. hahahaha inside joke.
went out with viv and steph last sat. shopping in bugis street where we discovered a big treasure hahaha and then on to mad jacks (we saw miss masnidah how weird) to pass steph her belated birthday card which i'm secretly happy to see.

don't you think it looks so cheery!
happy belated birthday steph! next time we go bugis and drink coffee together. lol.
eh people with jobs, please ask me out! then you can do charity by paying for my meals. lol.
okay last thought!
you are only as strong as your weakest link.
i think this makes a lot of sense.
